Ants

– Look for tiny ant trails on your counters.
– Watch for small dark ants by pet food bowls.
– Find crushed ant wings near windows in spring.

Identify species before treatment; apply targeted bait (sugar or protein based on species diet), perimeter residual spray, and interior crack-and-crevice treatment; locate and treat or exclude nest.

Nests in soil under slabs, in wall voids, under mulch, and in decaying wood; foragers enter structures through gaps seeking sugar, protein, and moisture. A single colony can hold thousands of workers. Scout ants leave scent trails that guide others to food.

Ants are common in Portland year-round. Many species nest near foundations, mulch, and wood.
